deciji_kamp_zabava_001.jpgmama_7.08.97_008.jpgThe Circle of Serbian Sister held a weekend celebration and fundraiser on June 7 and 8 at the children's summer camp at St. Sava Monastery in Canberra. The festivities began on Saturday evening with Vespers celebrated by the Reverend Father Sasha (of Sydney) with participation by the Very Reverend Father Nenad (of Blacktown) and the Reverend Hieromonk Father Seraphim (from the monastery.)  After Vespers, the sisters hosted an grand banquet of traditional Serbian food. The banquet's program began with prayer (lead by Hieromonk Seraphim) and included a talk by Very Reverend Archpriest Nenad (the Spiritual Advisor for the Cirlce of Serbian Sisters) music and dancing.

The dance program included folklore groups from Sydney, Canberra, Monavale, Blacktown, and even as far away as Geelong (800km away). The enjoyable evening of food, dance, and community was also shared with           members of St. Nicholas Greek deciji_kamp_zabava_007.jpgdeciji_kamp_zabava_008.jpgOrthodox Church in Canberra.Many of the guests from out of town stayed the night at the camp so they could attend the Divine Liturgy on Sunday Morning.On Sunday morning; the

Divine Liturgy commemorating the Holy Fathers celebrated by Very Reverend Father Nenad (of Blacktown) and Reverend Father Seraphim (of St. Sava Monastery).Following the Divine Liturgy, a procession was made around the Church with the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The relics were brought by the Very Reverend Father Nenad and presented to the monastery with the blessings of His Grace IRINEJ -- Bishop of Australia and New Zealand. 

deciji_kamp_zabava_015.jpgThese relics will join those of St. Nikolai of Zicha and St. Petka as a source of strength and grace for the monastic community and those pilgims who travel here. After the relics where enshrined in the Church, Fr. Nenad reminded those gathered that "churches and monasteries are built on the relics of the saints." After the procession, Fr. Nenad handed the relics to Fr. deciji_kamp_zabava_013.jpgSeraphim who placed them in the center of the church amidst the a flowers and incense. The relics were then venerated by the clergy and faithful present. A luncheon followed, prepared by the Circle of Serbian Sister's under the direction of Sister's President Mrs. Dusanka Timotic.
